It's impossible to underestimate the influence that East Asia has had on the global spice trades
From the ancient trade routes and Silk roads to the modern spice markets of one of the world's largest spice producers, East Asia, encompassing Korea, Japan, and the incredibly diverse regions of China, has influenced spice palettes and flavours all over the world.
Generally, the palettes of this part of the world are mild. The fiery Sichaun pepper that distinguishes much Chinese cuisine is the notable exception.
